Insulin is a hormone that is realeased when your blood sugar level gets to high. It causes glucose to then be taken up by the liver and converted to glycogen so lowering the blood sugar level

When your blood sugar is too low, glucagon is released, this causes glycogen to be converted to glucose and incresases your blood sugar.
