The constitution created the entire concept of checks and balances to ensure there was no ONE source of power. By separating these, they made sure no one branch would become too powerful. Think of it as evening out power sources so everything is balanced! This way corruption would be less likely and less destructive. This constrained the entirety of the government by ensuring the public there’s no way the government could become too powerful, since it also stressed the public’s involvement.
