Answer:  The limit does not exist.

Explanation:
To find whether the limit exists or not, the left hand limit (x<-1) should be equal to the right hand limit (x > or = -1)

Left hand limit:
[tex] \lim_{x \to -1} x+1 \\ -1 + 1 = 0[/tex]

Right hand limit:
[tex]\lim_{x \to -1} 1-x \\ 1-(-1) = 1+1 = 2[/tex]

After applying Left hand limit we get 0
After applying Right hand limit we get 2

Both are not equal. Hence the limit does not exist.
