In Act 3 Scene III of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo says "exile is worse than death". Why does he say this?

He thinks it’s worse than death because he will have to live with the thoughts of not having Juliet, at least in death he will not have to deal with not having what he wants which is Juliet.
