This is the Fayum depression. Here, fossil evidence of a primate ancestor was found predating the divergence between hominoids (apes and humans) and cercopithecids (Old World monkeys). The fossil of a single species lived around 30 million years ago in modern-day Egypt and resembled the current New-World monkeys.
