What are two numbers that multiply to equal -12 and add to equal 1?

x*y = negative, x+y = positive. Therefore, x = negative and y<|x|

Factors of 12 are as follows:
1,  2, 3, 4, 6, 12

Of these, -3 and 4 would multiply to become -12, but would add to become 1.
