Definition of log:

[tex]log_bX=a <=>X=b^a[/tex]

This means that
[tex]log_5125=a <=>125=5^a[/tex]
but we know that 5^3=5*5*5=125
therefore
a=3, or
[tex]log_5125=3[/tex]
