If it is $3 a pound and you buy 6 pounds you just multiply. 6 (the number of pounds) by 3 (the price for each pound.

6 * 3 = x (the total amount for 6 pounds of peanuts)

So 6 pounds of peanuts would cost $18. I hope this helps!
