A weakness of the sociological approach is that findings from studies cannot be generalized or extrapolated to the wider population. Sociological approaches often involve studies on certain types of groups that do not represent an entire population. For instance if you conduct a study on the effects of media on political views, and the sample you use are only university students, the findings are not representative of non-university students.
