An atom is comprised of 3 subatomic components. These include; protons, neutrons, and electrons. Changing the no. of protons will cause the atom to become another element. Changing the no. of neutrons will cause the atoms mass number to change. Lastly changing the no. of electrons will cause the atom to become a charged particle known as an ion.
