He explained the crowd how Caesar was a friend to him but he had also had the knowledge of what Brutus said about him, and Brutus being an honorable man gave Brutus more creditability;

"He was my friend, faithful and just to me.
But Brutus says he was ambitious,
And Brutus is an honorable man."
