Can someone explain this to me please because i dont know how to do this at all. 8 = 4(q - 2) + 4

8 = 4(q - 2) + 4

Here, you are trying to solve for q.
The first step is distributing. Multiply 4 by everything inside the parentheses.
8 = (4*q) + (4*-2) + 4
8 = 4q - 8 + 4

Now combine like terms.
8 = 4q - 4

Add 4 to both sides.
12 = 4q

And last, divide both sides by 4.
3 = q

The answer to this equation is q = 3.
