Use Pythagorean's Theorem, [tex] a^{2}+ b^{2}= c^{2} [/tex].  Your a is 10 annd your b is 14. Or vice versa; it doesn't matter cuz either way you'll get the same answer.
[tex] 10^{2} + 14^{2} = c^{2} [/tex]
[tex]100+196= c^{2} [/tex]
[tex]296= c^{2} [/tex]
[tex] \sqrt{296} = \sqrt{ c^{2} } [/tex]
[tex]17.205=c[/tex]
