The only thing you can do to it is factor out a 2 by dividing both terms by 2 and bring the 2 out in front:
2x + 8
2(x + 4)
That's your answer : 2(x +4)
You can test this by distributing the 2 by multiplication
2(x + 4)
2x + 8
