Why is genetic variation important to the process of evolution

I'm not sure your best bet is to look it up. But, on a scientific level the theory of evolution is sooooo not plausible. Genetic variation is essential for natural selection because natural selection can only increase or decrease frequency of alleles that already exist in the population.Genetic variation is caused by: mutation.
