. How is Total War different from other types of warfare (such as World War I)?

Total war is where two countries are at war with each other focusing all or most of their military on one another with no restrictions. While a world war is where multiple nations from around the world are fighting each other, in both instances we've had of world wars there have been teams of nations against each other.
