You factor that equation by seeing if you can take out anything. Example.

20 is the same as 2 times 2 times 5. Visualized, it is 2(10) or 4(5).

For this, you can take out the "2"

So it would be

2(x^2+1)

x^2+1 can't be factored so that is the final answer
