How did the assassination of the archduke of Austra Hungary lead to war between Russia and Germany?

When the archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. Germany sided with Austria-Hungary and Russia sided with Serbia which led to Germany and Russia becoming enemies.
