What they have in common is that they both have a diary and wrote down their thoughts. When Anne was hiding from the Nazis, Zlata was hiding from the gunfire and shrapnel that was destroying her town of Sarajevo. But the thing that they didn't have in common is that Anne died of typhus at the camp in March 1945, but Zlata and her family survived and were relocated to Paris, France in December 1993.
