Answer:

45 divided by 15 = 3 gallons of gas

Another way:

Ratio: 45 miles : 15 gallon

Divide by 15 on both sides to make unit rate:

3 miles : 1 gallon

3 miles x 5 = 15 miles

1 gallon x 3 = 3 gallons

15 miles: 3 gallons.
