Answer: a= 6 ; b= 2

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

4a + 7b = 38---- equation 1

9a + 7b = 68-----equation 2

we eliminate b by   subtracting equation i from 2 which gives us

5a =30

a = 30/5= 6

Puting the value of a -= 6 in equation 1

4a+7b= 38

= 4 x6 + 7b= 38

24+ 7b= 38

7b= 38-24

7b= 14

b= 14/7

b= 2

a= 6 ; b= 2
