Monks and Frairs looked similar in appearance-good barefoot, cutting their hair, wearing robs, and carrying alms, bags to collect gifts. Frairs are different from monks in that they are called to live the evangelical counsels(rows of poverty, chastity, and obedience)in service to society, rather than through cloistered asceticism and devotion.Monks or nuns make their rows and commit to a particular community in a particular place.
