During photosynthesis, chlorophyll traps sunlight energy using photosystems (p680 and p700). This is converted into ATP and NADPH. The ATP supplies the energy needed for Calvin cycle while the NADPH gives the electrons need for conversion of carbon dioxide to sugar in calvin cycle.
