Why do plants need nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus

Nitrogen , potassium and phosphorus are required by plants in large quantities becauseall these three nutrients are very important for the growth and development. soil does not contain NPK so special fertilizers are added or mixed to the soil to add NPK to the soil.
