x+1 = x-2/4

Simplify both sides of equation

x+1= x+ -1/2

Subtract x from both sides

x+1-x = x+ -1/2 - x

1 = -1/2

Subtract 1 from both sides

1-1 = -1/2 - 1

0 = -3/2
