A living room wall is 11 feet long how far from the corner would you have to the edge of a 2ft 6in shelf for it to be centered on the wall

Divide the width of the wall by 2 to find the center.

Divide the width of the shelf by 2 to find the center.


Wall: 11 feet / 2 = 5.5 feet

Shelf: 2.5 feet / 2 = 1.25 feet


Subtract the 2 :

5.5 - 1.25 = 4.25 feet from the corner ( 4 feet 3 inches)
