Arab countries launched an invasion that started the
Arab-Israeli War. Though many Arab
countries as well as the Palestinians took part in the conflict, Israeli forces
stood their ground and were able to make gains against the invaders. This led to a settlement where Israel
acquired land that was given to the Palestinians that in the 1947 Resolution of
