Starting with 3(2.5−2x)=13.5−14x, multiply out the left side:

7.5 - 6x = 13.5 - 14x

Next, combine like terms:

8x = 6  =>  x = 3/4

Check this result by substitution:

After subbing 3/4 for x, is  3(2.5−2[3/4])=13.5−14[3/4] true?

                                       Is 3(1) = 13.5 - 42/4 true?  YES.  So x = 3/4 is right.
