Blood viscosity is the friction red blood cells encounter when moving past each other.

Blood viscosity is the biophysical property of blood which describes its state of being thick, and sticky as a result of internal friction. Blood viscosity determines how red blood cells moves through the blood vessels. The main factors that determine blood viscosity are; hematocrit, plasma viscosity and red blood cell deformability and aggregation.
