8+1/3x=-1

Subtract 8 from both sides

1/3x= -9

Divide 1/3 on both sides

x= -9/1 / 1/3

Flip the second fraction (1/3) while transforming the division sign to multiplication

x= -9/1 * 3/1

Multiply

Final Answer: x= -27
