What can I do to fix the problem of the weakened EtBr signal from the gel after several weeks?
1) Throw away gels that are older than a day or two
2) Increase the amount of EtBr added to the gel
3) Decrease the amount of TAE buffer used to store the gels
4) Add fresh EtBr to the buffer periodically
